COURSE POLICIES
Defensive Edge Training Group LLC
These Course Policies apply to training courses offered by Defensive Edge Training Group LLC. Please review them before registering. By registering for a course, participants acknowledge and agree to the policies applicable to their training.
PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS
Participants must be legally permitted to possess and handle a firearm and must comply with all applicable laws, instructor commands, facility rules, and range safety requirements.
Participants may not participate while impaired by alcohol, illegal drugs, or any medication or substance that prevents the safe handling of a firearm.
Participants are responsible for providing accurate registration and contact information.
CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS
Cancellations made at least 7 days before the scheduled class are eligible for a full refund or transfer to another available class.
Cancellations made 3–6 days before the scheduled class are non-refundable but may be transferred to another available class date.
Cancellations made less than 72 hours before the scheduled class are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Any non-refundable payment-processing or transaction fees, if applicable, may be deducted from a refund.
RESCHEDULING
When a registration is eligible for rescheduling, transfers are subject to availability.
A transferred registration applies only to the participant originally registered unless otherwise approved by Defensive Edge Training Group LLC.
Defensive Edge Training Group LLC reserves the right to make reasonable exceptions to these policies at its discretion.
LATE ARRIVALS
Participants should arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled class start time to allow sufficient time for check-in and required paperwork.
Certain courses, including Michigan CPL certification courses, require completion of specific instructional components. Participants arriving more than 15 minutes after the scheduled start time may not be permitted to participate and may be required to register for or transfer to another class.
Late arrival does not guarantee eligibility for a refund or rescheduling.
NO-SHOWS
A participant who fails to attend a scheduled course without providing notice before the scheduled start time will be considered a no-show.
No-show registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable unless otherwise approved by Defensive Edge Training Group LLC.
CLASS CANCELLATIONS & WEATHER
Defensive Edge Training Group LLC reserves the right to cancel, postpone, relocate, or reschedule training because of severe weather, unsafe conditions, instructor illness or emergency, range or facility closure, or other circumstances that prevent the course from being conducted safely or appropriately.
If Defensive Edge Training Group LLC cancels a course and cannot provide the scheduled training, participants will be offered the opportunity to transfer to another available class or receive a refund of the affected course registration fee.
If only a portion of a course must be postponed, participants may be required to return at a later scheduled time to complete the remaining requirements before receiving certification.
FIREARMS & AMMUNITION
Participants bringing their own firearm are responsible for ensuring that it is in safe working condition and appropriate for the course.
Unless otherwise specified for a particular course, ammunition brought by participants must be factory-manufactured and comply with the requirements of the instructor and host range.
The instructor may inspect or prohibit the use of any firearm, ammunition, holster, or other equipment reasonably believed to be unsafe, damaged, inappropriate for the training activity, or prohibited by the host facility.
Participants must follow all instructions regarding when and where firearms may be handled, loaded, unloaded, or removed from their cases.
TRAINING HANDGUN & AMMUNITION
When offered for a particular course, participants who do not have an appropriate handgun may purchase the Training Handgun & Ammunition add-on during registration.
Training firearms remain under the control of Defensive Edge Training Group LLC and/or the training facility and may only be used as instructed during the applicable training activity.
Only ammunition supplied or specifically approved for the training firearm may be used.
Unsafe or unauthorized handling of a training firearm may result in immediate termination of the participant’s use of the firearm and/or removal from the course.
SAFETY & CONDUCT
Safety is our highest priority.
Participants must immediately follow all instructor commands, firearm-safety rules, and host facility or range requirements.
Defensive Edge Training Group LLC reserves the right to immediately stop training or remove a participant who:
Fails to follow instructor or range commands
Handles a firearm in an unsafe manner
Appears impaired by alcohol, canabis/marijuana, illegal drugs, medications, or any other substance that may affect safe firearm handling or is accompanied by the odor of alcohol, canabis/marijuana that raises a reasonable safety concern.
Engages in threatening, reckless, disruptive, or inappropriate conduct
Creates a safety concern for themselves or others
Violates applicable facility or range rules
A participant removed for unsafe or inappropriate conduct may forfeit course fees and may not receive a certificate of completion.
COURSE COMPLETION & CERTIFICATION
Payment, registration, or attendance does not guarantee successful course completion or certification.
Participants must satisfactorily complete all required portions of the applicable course and demonstrate the level of safe firearm handling required by the instructor and applicable training standards.
For Michigan CPL certification courses, participants must satisfactorily complete all required classroom and live-fire components before receiving a certificate of completion.
A participant who does not satisfactorily complete required training will not receive a certificate until all applicable requirements have been successfully completed.
Completion of a Michigan CPL training course does not guarantee that a participant is legally eligible for or will be issued a Michigan Concealed Pistol License.
PERSONAL PROPERTY
Participants are responsible for their own firearms, equipment, ammunition, clothing, electronics, and other personal property brought to training.
Defensive Edge Training Group LLC is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property except to the extent otherwise required by law.
PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEO
Defensive Edge Training Group LLC may photograph or record portions of training for educational or promotional purposes only when appropriate permission has been obtained.
Participants who do not wish to appear in identifiable photographs or recordings may notify the instructor.
Separate consent may be requested when photographs or recordings will be used for promotional purposes.
